SEPHORA Gift Bag Transformation
I have often looked at shopping bags that I get from various stores and thought it would be a shame to just throw them away. They are usually high quality bags with nice handles and are very sturdy. Unfortunately, you can’t just put your gift into a bag with a store logo on it and give it to someone. They will think that you forgot about them, came straight from the mall with their gift and didn’t have the time to buy a gift bag. I created a way to make a custom gift bag and reuse the better quality store bags at the same time. This gift bag design would be perfect for Mother’s Day!
The first bag I tried to do this with was a Sephora gift bag because it a very nice bag and has a very interesting side stripe.
Materials
- Sephora shopping bag
- Black and white patterned scrapbooking paper (coordinating with the black and white theme)
- Red and silver ribbon pieces
- Crystals, beads or button accents (whatever you have on hand)
- Craft glue
- Hole punch
Instructions
Untie the rope string handles and remove them from the bag.
Cut two pieces of scrapbooking paper the size to fit the front and back of the bag and attach with craft glue.
Decorate the front of the bag with ribbon pieces, buttons and crystal accents.
Punch holes though the scrapbooking paper. Use the holes on the inside of the bag as a guide to so they will be in their original location. Feed the rope through the holes and tie a knot on the ends to secure.
Fill the bag with the tissue that was given at the store to finish your beautiful gift bag. It is sturdier that a typical gift bag and has more style.
Be creative and try different colors and patterns that will coordinate with the black and white side strip. Polka Dots and animal prints would create a very stylish look. You can also use this method with other types of nice shopping bags. I would love to see your creations.
