Flower Pot Decorative Cork Board
I like to make functional items look pretty and different than something you can find at the store like this decorative cork board. I wanted to make a fun cork board for my daughter’s room so I created something flowery and fun that looks like a decoration but also serves a purpose. I reused a can to make the flower pot work with magnets. It always amazes me the things you can use around your house to add an unexpected touch to each project. This is a great back to school project.

Materials Used to Make the Decorative Flower Pot Corkboard
- Wood Frame that has a wood back
- Cork
- Batting (optional if the cork is thick)
- White Spray Paint
- Decorative Ribbon
- Green Ribbon
- Metal Can
- Push Pins
- Assorted Fabric Flowers
- Glass Beads
- Magnets
- Hot Glue Gun
- Craft Glue
Step 1: Cut both ends off of the can and flatten it for the magnet board.
Step 2: Spray paint the can, cork and wood board with white spray paint.
Step 3: Cut a piece of batting to fit inside the wood frame. Double the piece of batting if your cork is thin and the push pin can easily fall out.
Step 4: Glue the batting to the board with craft glue. Leave enough space a the bottom of the board for the can to fit in nicely.
Step 5: Using craft glue, attach pieces of ribbon on each side of the batting.
Step 6: Attach the cork to the batting with craft glue.
Step 7: Remove the stems from the fabric flowers and glue them to the tops of the push pins with the hot glue gun.
Step 8: Using the glue gun, attach the can to the bottom of the frame without the batting. It should fit in perfectly.
Step 9: Using the craft glue, attach a band of ribbon to the top and bottom of the can to make it look like a flower pot. Glue pieces of green ribbon onto the cork for the stems and add some fabric leaves from the flower stems to add to the charm.
Step 10: Using the hot glue gun, attach magnets to the glass beads to use on the flower pot magnet board.
