DIY Pilgrim Hat Candle Holders

These adorable DIY Pilgrim hat candle holder decorations are so easy to create to add a festive flair to your Thanksgiving. They are not only inexpensive to make but also be made the day before Thanksgiving while you are prepping for your holiday feast.

I like using a small terracotta pot turned upside down as the base. A battery-operated tea light fits nicely on the top of the drain hole. I like using terracotta pots because of the extra weight, it is sturdy on a flat surface and will not easily be knocked over. The terracotta pots are also very easy to paint because they are smooth surfaces that don’t absorb the paint. The rim on the top of the pot is a perfect size for wrapping ribbon around.

How to Make a DIY Pilgrim Hat Candle Holder Decoration

DIY Pilgrim Hat Painting Terracotta Pots

Step 1: Paint terracotta pots with black acrylic paint and let dry.

Step 2: Cut rectangles out of the gold craft foam to create the belt buckle.

Step 3: Cut a circle out of black craft foam to create the brim of the hat. The circle should be larger than the terracotta pot to make the brim.

Step 4: Glue ribbon around the base of the terracotta pot with craft glue.

Step 5: Glue black craft foam brim to the terracotta pot with a hot glue gun.

Step 6: Glue buckle to the ribbon with craft glue.

Step 7: Paint tea lights with black multi-surface paint.

Step 8: Place the tea light on top of the decorated DIY Pilgrim Hat to finish your festive DIY Pilgrim Hat centerpiece.
