It always seems that the best-decorated houses on Halloween also have the best candy! These homemade DIY spooky Halloween decorations are so cheap and easy to make and can be put together on Halloween. These materials are can be purchased at Dollar Tree for less than $5. The secret to this outdoor Halloween decoration is that the yellow plate adds an extra glow to the cutout faces.
These scary glowing eyes in the dark can be placed anywhere in the front yard to greet unsuspecting trick-or-treaters. They are on skewers so they can be pushed anywhere in the ground or in a potted plant.

Materials for the Halloween DIY Outdoor Decorations
- Black and Yellow Plastic Plates
- Wood Skewers
- Scissors and/or Craft Knife
- Hot Glue Gun
- Glow Sticks or LED lights
How to Make DIY Glowing Faces Halloween DIY Outdoor Decorations
- Draw a scary face on the back of the plastic plate with a pencil.
- Cut out the eyes with scissors by poking a hole into the eye, sliding the scissor into the hole and cutting out the shape.
- The nose and the mouth can be cut out with scissors or for a more precise cut, use a craft knife.
- Don’t be concerned if the cuts are a little uneven or jagged because it will not matter once the faces are glowing.
- Hot glue a skewer to the inside rim of the yellow plastic plate.
- Hot glue inside the rim of the black plastic plate with the cutout face to the inside rim of the yellow plate so there is a space between the two plates.
- Fit lights into the openings of the scary face to bring the glowing face to life.
- The glowing faces can be placed in the ground or into a planter to greet trick-or-treaters.
- When darkness blankets the neighborhood, the creepy faces will come alive!
