Ginger Lemon Tea
With allergy season upon us, not only am I dealing with a nasty case of sniffles and scratchy throat but I have somehow managed to catch a cold on top of it. Here is my remedy to soothe my aliments and help lessen the duration of my discomfort…or at least I keep telling myself that. Homemade ginger lemon tea with honey is a delicious and easy way to help me through the unpleasant times.  Regardless, if it doesn’t relieve my symptoms, at least it is comforting to curl up with a good book and sip ginger tea.
Here is my recipe. I like to make one cup at time so it is very fresh. I also don’t like an overpowering ginger flavor so you can add more ginger if you like a spicier tea.
Ingredients:
- 2 slices peeled fresh ginger root ( I like only a hint of ginger so add more if you would like it stronger.)
- 1 lemon wedge about 1/8 of a fresh lemon
- 1-2 teaspoons honey or to taste
Directions:
Step 1: Add ginger slices to a decorative tea cup. (Pretty tea cups make you feel better too!)
Step 2:Â Squeeze lemon into the tea cup.
Step 3:Â Drizzle honey over the ginger.
Step 4:Â Pour boiling water into the cup, cover and let steep for 10 minutes.
Step 5:Â Stir to meld the flavors together and release the ginger into the tea.
Enjoy!
You can make variations of this recipe by substituting the lemon with orange, lime or even grapefruit juice. For a stronger ginger taste, add ginger slices to water and boil for 10 minutes  before mixing in the lemon and honey to add that extra zing to your tea.
